Bow Commercial, Mocon, and the Plastics Institute Unite to Advance Knowledge in Plastic Packaging

Bow Commercial Co., Ltd., in partnership with the Plastics Institute of Thailand and Mocon—an industry‑leading manufacturer of permeation analysis instruments—successfully organized a technical seminar under the theme:“Plastic Packaging Solutions: Extending Shelf Life and Enhancing Sustainability.”

The seminar attracted a large number of participants from across the plastic and packaging value chain, including resin producers, film producers and converters, packaging manufacturers, academics, and researchers. Their shared interest centered on gas permeation properties, a critical factor influencing packaging performance and product shelf life.

As part of the program, experts from Ametek Mocon delivered an in‑depth technical presentation on gas permeation measurement and the importance of barrier properties in designing high‑performance packaging. The session highlighted how advanced permeation analysis supports product safety, quality control, and long‑term shelf‑life stability.

The event also featured a special lecture and hands‑on workshop by Khun Mayuree Paklamjeak, a respected expert in plastic packaging. Her session covered key topics such as film material properties, standardized testing methods, sustainable film structure design, and proper approaches to shelf‑life evaluation. Participants benefited from practical insights directly applicable to research and industrial applications.

In addition, attendees had the opportunity to observe live demonstrations of the Mocon OTR (Oxygen Transmission Rate) and WVTR (Water Vapor Transmission Rate) testing systems currently operated by the Plastics Institute of Thailand. These demonstrations provided a clear understanding of international test methods and the role of barrier property analysis in effective packaging development.
